Use a wick bar and Roundup. Wipe weeds both directions. Repeat as needed. Does an excellent job on established johnsongrass.

BTW, most grasses don't begin to load up on nitrates until nearly mature or when stressed. Cut early before seedheads appear, and johnsongrass makes a fair hay. To be safe, test before offering for sale.
