Myself, personally, I'd trade the subsidies for $300 per acre land. I sure don't see many farmers in this area paying $5,000 per acre for land. It's mostly investors. Those few farmers who are buying land mostly got the money from somewhere besides farming. There was family land to build on or possibly an inheritance to invest.
