It is not too hard to figure out why we are where we are today. It would have been a lot cheaper and made about as much sense as the LDP program if the Gov had bought a billion bu of corn in 03 and 04 and dumped it in the ocean. The past farm program has done nothing in providing our country a reserve for when we need it. The best thing in the long term would have been to have a corn reserve of 3- 4 billion bu , to be drawn on today. The current runup in prices since Oct 2005 is not in the best interest of agriculture. The wasted tax $ that were used to export grain out of this country at below cost of production are going to bite us in the butt, we could sure use everyone of those bushels today.
