I am amazed at how many earth worms are in our perennial grasses. They are a very valuable part of healthy soil. In our mild temps and good amount of rainfall, the worms work overtime incorperating the "duff" on top.

I dont think we can go to 40" on the fescues we grow, but your idea of running the sweep through is along the same lines as what I wanted to do last fall with the free dairy manure I could have had. However, I did' have the equipment available at the time and deadlines ran out so........ If I can still get any manure, I'll do what I can to shank it in between the narrower rows we have.

On 40" rows, do the switch grass roots still make to the center of the isles?
