Our soils are very high in calcium. Most run better than 10% free lime, and an 8 pH.
Beans just do not do all that great under these soil conditions. Maybe some day a high pH tolerant variety will be found.
Usually the beans will turn a bright yellow from iron Chlorosis.
Add to our pH a season that turns dry and hot July first and they do suffer. The rumors say 15 bu/A are representative of soybean production, here.
Got home an hour ago and there was .51" in the gauge. That puts us at 27% of the average amount for February. It rained most of the day in Fort Worth. There was standing water behind the terraces near Hillsboro, TX.
