Subject: Re: Insight and split planter

Hi Dave,

The one or two rawson drive/split planter issue is a confusing and frustrating subject with Ag Leader right now. I've been on the phone now for several days trying to figure this out, as I am about to purchase the same setup you are running. I had one tech tell me I had to have two rawsons, one tech told me I didn't, and then I asked for the planter specialist and he told me I didn't (after being on hold for about 15 minutes). So, if the first tech is right, if you don't have a rawson on your planter, you can't log split planter, that is what they are implying.

The last thing they (Ag Leader) told me was...

If I want to vary the rate of both varieties/hybrids (which I don't), then I'd have to have 2 rawsons. If I just want to vary the rate across the whole planter (not by variety), then one rawson will work. The last tech I talked to said.. the split planter logging just has to do with GPS location and whatever varieties I set up in the planter, it wasn't controlled by a rawson. It would require the multi product unlock though. Then, the insight would read the variable rate planting prescription and vary the rate across the whole planter using the one rawson. Does this make sense??

Basically, we are trying to log/record the split planter operation and vary the seed rate across the whole planter, so I don't see why 2 rawsons are needed on each side of the planter, right? If someone out there understands this, PLEASE HELP!!

Thanks!
