Subject: IHC 1206

North End I-15
Rear end problems , D21 Allis , same problem , 5010 JD , At least the company had enough financial backing to fix what would have broke others ......
IHC never made a good combine till the rotor came , still a good machine. The R series Gleaner combines broke more than one custom cutter . The massey 750 and 760 combines were a total bitch to work on and always stopped for some reason. Case 1060 combine was a fine threshing machine but had a dumb curved feeder housing that would not feed short barley , CIH header that will not cut and feed short barley . The draper headers are far better. Best Tractor/ HP ever built were the Versatile 145's . cheap and would pull the nuts off all the competition at the time.
Still a good rig . No tranny problems or drive line problems . Major problem was single stage air cleaner . That 470 Cummins V-8 was a good engine. Massey at the same time had throw-away cat V-8 's , seen more than one with guts blew out on the ground .
