Subject: RE: manure analysis

SW MN and Gold Canyon AZ
If one would put the manure 12 inchs deep I see 2 problems with that. One it takes LOTS of HP to do that ,two your speed would be pretty slow allowing to many gals per acre.
My finisher typically has a 75-50 -50 per 1000 gals. Figure 75% of the N is available first year,80% of the phos and 90% of the K.
We apply 3000 gals per acre (flow meters) on a 4 year rotation. Mine is custom applied using disc covering equipment. If its wet sometimes the coverage isn't the best. The dietrich applicators are the best as far as coverage, but again take more HP to pull not allowing a larger area per swath.
I don't think you need to go that deep.
I try to put on the least amount of gals and cover as many acres as possible. At 3000 gals per acre I'm getting about 169 lbs of usable N on a yield goal of 175 PLUS. This also coinsides pretty close with my removal rates on Pand K on a 4 year cycle.
The key is to get as many acres out of the pit as possible using N rates as the guide. The more acres covered the less the need for NH3 on the balance.
