Subject: RE: La Nina spring followed by hot dry summer?

Blue Earth, MN
We have 4 feet of frost yet in the open areas here in SCMN and it is approaching the second week of March. It appears A LOT will have to change in the next 3-4 weeks so we have a "normal" spring. Looking like right now it could be a COOL and DRY spring. My view is opposed by others in our area but I think we are dry. Some are saying with our deep frost our soil conditions will be "Perfect". I still think we need some moisture to mellow out the "Freeze dried" chunks that were created last fall by the disk rippers. Without some moisture during the thaw, the field cultivators will create chunks that look like lump coal.
