Subject: Re: striptill with NH3

WCNY
I have planted sooner than 5 days with no problem. Even to say within one day. To clarify I did place 12 inches deep and the units do an excellent job of placement (paralell linkage). We had previously applied NH3 with a chisel plow 8 - 9 inch's deep 30 inch centers and chiseled with the row. This is what led me to feel comfortable planting over top because I know I was with the chisel for 20 years before with excellent results. Granted I did field cultivate after the chisel before planting, but only 4 inches deep. Did yield checks side by side (chisel- strip till) same NH3 rate. I did notice higher yields with strip till but stalk stand ability was an issue. possibility due to roots but I think it was due to potash not getting into the plant (BCasted) then, now we deep apply PA and seem to have better stalks. We have had to go away from NH3 because it is not readily available in our area. (To many thieves)
Good luck
