Usually top down, when it is in the "heart" of the thaw, it's not uncommon to see the frost level actually go down a bit deeper than in the middle of the winter.

Once the frost level is out to under the tile lines, the ground gets fit relatively quick. There will still be spots tho that give one problems. Usually those spots will stay/look wet on top while the rest of the field is fit. When you hit those spots..... there is no bottom to them.

Always have someone in the area that has to try those spots. We know who to watch for being the "first out". Usually at that point, give it anywhere from 3/4 - 6/7 days, and the ground is fit to work.
