Subject: RE: lagoon pit agitation

If you pump off the top all the time, you will get a buildup of solids on the bottom and reduce the capacity of your lagoon. The more thick stuff you bring off the bottom, the higher the P test will be, the N stays about the same. High pressure will not keep the tips from plugging. There is a company in Clay Center, Ks that makes a rotating- self cleaning screen that goes on the suction pipe that works excellent for this. My observations from 10 years of dairy lagoon pumping through center pivots. ( the first 9 with constant problems, the last year with the screen and zero problems)
