The problem I have with GRIP is that it completely skips the concept of actually insuring anything. With GRIP you can "lose the farm" (literally as well as figuratively) and still not have a claim. It does nothing to insure you will cover costs, all it is is another way to gamble money. What is the point? The only way it makes any sense is if it has a higher rate of return then putting the premium money at risk in some other enterprise would produce.

RA or CRC on the other hand provide an absolute minimum income per insured acre. If you lose a field, you will be paid on that field. It's not really possible to "lose the farm" with RA or CRC unless you were simply not destined to make a profit at any rate, in which case you should have know it at the front side.
