Subject: Re: Seed Bean Problem

Near Richmond, IN
I can't speak for anyone else but we sell seed beans and our markup is not all that great. If I had to cut the price because of lower germs I would be just as well off to haul them to the elevator rather than go to the trouble of cleaning and bagging them. Luckily so far our germs have been in the 90's but I don't know if that will hold up through the spring. I know everyone wants their seed priced as low as possible but try to remember that a lot of the price is the royalties that go to other people and that part is not negotiable. The other thing to remember is that it wasn't too many years ago that any germ above 80 was considered good.
