| Everyones situation is different. In my case, for .15 per bushel based on my aph I can insure myself about a 200 bushel corn crop at $3.95 per bushel (revenue guar). While I haven't checked lately, I doubt I could do the same thing (esp in such a simple straightforward way) for the same money using the board. The extra cost in terms of per cent of increased revenue protection at the 85% level verses the the lower levels does stand out, but I think in a lot of areas it is true that this is where the collections are, in that extra 5% of coverage. I have carried the revenue types of coverage for years and probably am about even in collection verses cost. In almost every case my collection was based on low fall prices, while my yields were at, or above my aph. | |
