Don't waste your money on CAT or Multi-peril coverage. If you are well-heeled and want to gamble, try GRIP...no invidual protection, but pays if county yield is below "normal". If you are higly leveraged and want to reduce your risk, get CRC or RA coverage...can be pricey at the higher coverage levels, but is very good protection for a guaranteed yield AND price.

We never had any coverage prior to 1999, (other than CAT when it was required) and never would have collected a dime off of multi-peril in 4 generations had we had it. When they came out with CRC in our county in 1999, it looked like there was finally some coverage that make sense, so we signed up. Had major drought that year in SW Ohio, and collected a big check that kept me in business to play again another year. Have had CRC every year since.
