Thanks for the info, the rainfall deal sounds interesting, the swap is confusing to me but everything is right now ! Been running these what if deals. What I want to insure against is the 1in 50 year, 40 bu yield. I think I've given up on the make money over time deal. At least with these prices and yields. That year when corn made 40-100 bu in my area, guys that had the YT3 corn had an 80 bu yield advantage ! I'm planting 80% of that so don't feel I will collect unless its a 1 in 50 yr type yield. When I look at these estimates, the APH at 85% seems reasonable when you look at the crop revenue + insurance -insurance premium, $/A, at a large loss, say 100 bu/a. Am I reading this right? I'm trying to use the Einstein approach and use math to figure this out but I'm afraid I'm more like Earnestein. Should of quit dreaming in Algebra classes I guess !
