Little River, TX | To my thinking all the results are in a big tie.
What they do not mention is the probability that the application cost will be halved.
Some time in the past Oklahoma had a study that showed total production of alfalfa is greater when all the phosphate needed for the life of the stand is applied prior to planting. That deep banding had the highest production over the 6 year life of the stand.
I would suggest these observations apply to the soils and climate where the work was conducted. That the need for intelligent application of the various fertility elements is even more important with larger but less frequent application.
There are some sandy soils where 6 weeks between fertilizer application is stretching the capabilities of those soils. | |
