Hay Wilson in TX

Subject: The basic Strategy is valid, the tactics may differ.

Little River, TX
I have to leave the details to the man on the ground.

I could have mentioned fertilizing ahead of wheat works for some. This is one year in wheat, 3 years in alfalfa, and 2 years in cotton rotation works for some farmers. Obviously not northern corn belt, nor in the East Texas sandy lands, but it does work for at least one Texas farmer.

His tactics are different than the ones I utilize.

My adaption of the longer interval between fertilizer applications is to apply enough fertilizer for 20 tons of hay. When that goal is near I look at a fresh set of soil and plant analysis to determine my options.

Sorry I did not pick up on the ideal you were looking for tactical comments, that directly applied to your preferred rotation.
