Subject: RE: Texas Panhandle Dryland Wheat Pics

Northwest Texas Panhandle
It seems to me that we've been dry for so many years now that its become the norm.  Over the last 12 months we've had between 8-12 inches on our fields most of it coming less than a half inch at a time.  We got a .15" shower a couple of weeks before planting this field and somehow that must have gotten it up.  There was a half inch shower later and several  .5-1.5" snows.  Around December, I thought the stuff was already done for but at the beginning of the year I noticed there was a pretty good stand.  All it'll take is a couple small showers and this wheat can do amazing things.  It actually looks better than last year when the wind wrecked havoc on it but it still averaged 26 bushels.
