| I don't think anyone mentioned it in this thread but I think the ability to bump to really high populations becomes more prudent when planting in narrow rows. Obviously there is quite a limiting factor to high pops in 30" + rows but the guys around here that run 20" or 22" planters can still keep a very nice distance between plants at 40 and above populations. I will say that we haven't seen a big increase in yield going from the 30 to 20" planters here though. Not enough to justify buying a different planter and cornhead anyway. | |
