I think there was not a big push for regulatory approval for so long due to the fact that Roundup ready soybeans were so widley accepted and nothing "cost wise" at the time could beat the program (going back 5-6 years) But as Roundup resistant weeds developed and profit margins to the technology providers got so lucrative they put Liberty beans back on the fast track.

Also with the new RR2 event and Optimum GAT coming on - Bayer is looking for thier piece. This time with a product that will be looked at demanded.

This is just a guess on my part - so take it for what it is worth. 

BTW Ron - weren't you one of the first testers of RR soys.  Would you have ever thought that that technology would have dominated an industry as quickly as it has.  As one of the earlier posters mentioned either in this thread or one earlier-  at one time Pioneer had no interest in RR corn.
