Well I have some experience with crop models (CropSyst, EPIC, and CERES-Maize) but I'm not sure that you and I are talking the same thing. Are you referring to just growth and development based on GDD? The correlation between growth stages and GDD varies from crop to crop.
I didn't really add much to the conversation, maybe a little more info about what you would like to accomplish.
