I've played with CERES. To me, it was basically a regression exercise but interesting how it will predict differences from a year effect.

Corn will respond differently by hybrid to photoperiod. For most part, it responds to heat units so descriptions of hybrid maturity are based on a growing degree unit basis.

Delays in planting will bring out differences in development. Many hybrids will require few days & GDU to midsilk when planting date is delayed. This shows the photosensitivity.
