I was at a field day last summer where they had a population plot, they ran 27,000 30,000 33,000 and 36,000 on 30 inch rows.When I asked the agronimist why they stopped at 36,000 his reply was why in the hell would you plant that thick and there was no reason to go any higher because it would only hurt yield.I never heard back from him when I sent my yields to him after harvest.I've been planting at 34,000 on 38 inch rows and plan on bumping it to 36-37,000 this year on 30 inch.As long as it keeps working I'll keep pushing a little at a time.If you don't try something new how do you know what works and what don't?
