Subject: I think I'm reading this right

I can put it in line from the hotwater heater and feed it with hotwater? This would solve my problems if that be the case. This would mean that it would only come on and do it's job when she's used all of the hotwater, wife washing clothes, dishwasher, etc and I can still get a nice hot shower?
