Callao Missouri | A customer of mine suffered a stanadyen rotary injection pump failure, I removed pump and sent it to the pump shop, later they called me and explained that the cam ring had came apart, ground around in the housing and self destructed.
In talking to the fuel injection pump service man, he informed me the reason for the failure was most likely my customer recently fueled his bulk tank and received a load of new and improved fuel containing no suffer. He said that older engines will need to start running a fuel additive, or run B 5 or B 10. He also said his pump shop service has been steadily picking up over the last month with catastrophic failures like this.
