Subject: White Muscle Disease

Got a group of 15 bottle babies about 5 weeks ago. They all looked good. At about 3 weeks they didn't look right Nothing specific. Then a few days later some started coughing and others had trouble getting up. Treated for pneumonia, Some showed improvement then relapsed. Others lost their hair. They all drink their milk eagerly but won't eat any starter. So far 5 have died the bigger ones. I found out they all came from the same farm. I talked to the owner and he said he has never had a problem with any of his calves and he has E and selenium in the ration. I'm not sure he is entirely truthful. The other calves in the group from other farms are doing fine. I cut one open and the muscle looks pale. I'm pretty sure it is White Muscle Disease. My question can anything be done to save the rest of them? Although the way the markets look the dead ones might be the most profitable one on the farm.
