| I did the Pertronix maybe 15 yrs ago on a old '72 f250. The instruction were not very clear as to hook up to direct 12V or go thru resistor wire. Well I went to straight 12V and it lasted less then 1 yr. When the ingition went out the pickup backfired loudly and split the muffler right down the seam. I had to reinstall the points just to get home. I never did find out if the power wire was supposed to be run thru a resistor or not. That might be something to pay attention to, though. bjr | |
