North Central Ohio
I had the same concerns that you had when I purchased a Sunflower one-pass tool. I was thinking of the light duty S-tine like on the row crop cultivator. This shank is as tough or tougher than a spring shank. I have had the Landfinisher for 16 years and just replaced the first shank this year (caught it on an old piece of burr oak tree root). I would not be afraid of the shanks. Some of the early Sunflower field cultivators had some problems, but I am talking about 15+ years ago.
