Huntley Montana
I've got the Mantis, as far as I can see thier the best for my use. But there Iis NO good way to stack big sq bales yet. Lotta ideas out there, but NO GOOD way in my opion & I've seen most.
Stacking on the string has it's advantages & disadvantages. More stable, but strings go bad faster on top & string freezes to the hay more in the winter on the top & bottom bales.
Pro AG out of Belgrade MT has a fair system for a pull type. I have too many fields & too many miles to haul for a pull type.
1 thing you DO NOT want is 1 that pokes holes in the bales, Moisture will follow those holes into the bale.
The way I use to handle the big sqs wasn't too bad, but it took 2 people. I beefed up a 1052 NH retriever, then stacked the bales 2 to a tier, 5 high in the field then picked the stacks up & ran them to the stack area & set them there stacked with the truck. That way I only handled them once with the loader to get them into the stack. Still use this once in a while when the Mantis gets behind.
I might know where there is a used Mantis for $50-55M.
