The spirals don't pulverize the surface like the solid do, they also don't have as much weight to them.

If the reason for rolling is to get the seedbeg more firm then I would probably go with the spiral.

If the reason is to get everything level for harvest, the sprials won't really do that, then you need solid.

Note that neither of them tend to actually pack down in a furrow, the weight is carried on the ridges so they don't function the same way for pressing the ground around the seed that a wheel packer following in the row does.

Corn stalks shouldn't be a problem for the spirals. Biggest problem some guys have is filling them with mud by driving through mud. Then you have to make some fast sharp turn to cause it to fly out. (Some guys did it out with bars, I would recommend laziness and drive fast and turn.)

If you want to run them right in front of the drill like all at once, the biggest thing is you have to either give them enough space or have them limited in some way so when that spring steel hits a rock and comes flying up that it doesn't damage something.
