Subject: Plastic cornhead repair

Last fall I had a rock run a gathering chain off on my JD 893 with plastic dividers. At the top corner of the plastic hump between the rows where the drive sprocket rotates there is a 90 degree piece of metal that got ripped off the plastic. I'm not really sure what its funtion is other than maybe protect the plastic if the chain comes off. JD molds 3 wing nuts into the plastic and 2 of mine got ripped out. Any idea how to repair such a thing. New hood is 3-4 hundred dollars. The plastic is too thin in that area to insert some other kind of keeper. Any ideas?
