SW KS, near Dodge City
We've got 1 tractor that has 6500 hours (CIH 9230) and 1 tractor (JD 4630) that's got 11000+. They're pretty much trouble free. Of course, the 46 is just a chore tractor & the case only pulls a planter, drill and grain cart, so we don't work them that hard. Notill is a good thing:)

I wouldn't be afraid of a tractor with 6000-7000 hours, as long as it has the age to go with it. If it's a 2-3 year old tractor with those kinds of hours, it probably came out of a dairy or a custom operation somewhere. I'd make sure to buy one from an owner/operator. I know a lot of large operations take very good care of their equipment, but there's a lot more that don't. A lot of entry-levle hired hands just run it hard and put it away wet b/c that's the easiest & they know either they or the tractor'll be gone next year. Just my $.02.

Phil
