Subject: For me it would depend on what I was wanting to do

I can see if you were just loading material the wheel loader would be fine, that's what they were made to do, but for anything else I'd still take the tracked machine. If you were only comparing a wheeled loader to a wheeled skid steer, then I can see the point, but when you throw in the availability of a rubber tracked machine it steals the show in my opinion.

The wheeled loader will be harder to grade with if you have some rough dirt and want to smooth it out and finish grade it, that's where the tracked machine really shines. Most wheel loaders also have a larger bucket/tire ratio because their primary purpose is digging in loose piles and they lack the traction to cut and dig in something that has not been disturbed.

We've thought about getting a used wheel loader to load dirt with, something with a 2 or 3 yard bucket, but for what we do we don't have enough work for a single purpose machine. Right now we're loading dirt with our track hoe and looking for a larger track loader along the lines of a 953C or 655 Deere to load with and use for some larger grading work.
