Sunnyside, WA | I just bought a 430 Case and really like it. Grew up on Gehl and Case so have always been used to hand controls of whatever was thrown at me. Also spent a lot of hours in a JD 7775 with hand/foot controls.
Demoed a Cat and could not get used to the pilot controls. I found a complete lack of precision to these controls. I thought it was me, but I also had 3 of my best operators run it and they had the same issues. The machine would either move 2 feet or nothing. Case had a lot more precision for close quarters. I could also not get the Cat to do a "power turn" (wheels on each side going opposite directions). We have some lanes and situations that require this. I probably need more practice and time on the machine, but 6 hours usually gets you somewhere on a skid loader. Talking to the salesman, these are both some common complaints on these units. The Cat was great in the wide open, but I'll used one of our pay loaders in the wide open.
Case was $7000 cheaper in the end, and that sealed the deal more than anything. | |
