Hagen Brothers farms,Goodrich ND
There are a dozen different styles and they all mount different. Most mount at the guard with the angle iron strut going back to a square tube running the length of the header under about the middle to put a triangulated brace keep the pan in alignment. The square tube has a strut extending down about 6 inches below the header to allow a good triangle to brace each pan Most headers were not designed for anything like a SF pan,so expect a lot of bending out of alignment, and maybe some cracking at the front of the header. A local manufacturing outfit(Faul Manufacturing,Harvey ND)) made a SF pan quicktach unit that was really slick. It had good rigid mounts for the pans, end dividers and reel that installed and removed as a unit in about 1/2 hour. The thing was very rigid,so the pans stayed aligned and did not overstress and bend/crack the header. I still have a pair of them for a 20 ft white rigid head and a 17.5 ft IH head that I have not used for years. We are in the center of a blackbird flyway, and they usually took 1/3 to 1/2 of the crop, and yes,the little darlings are protected.
