Subject: Pickup Engine Problem

Milford, Illinois
I posted six months or more ago about my 1995 GMC K1500 with a 350 c.i. engine using a quart of oil in 200 miles, wondering what might be wrong. I have an extended warranty on the vehicle. The dealer determined it had excessive leak down of compression in some of the cylinders. They took off the heads and found excessive wear on some cylinder walls. The warranty company says they cover internal parts, but only the heads and block if they are damaged by an internal component. So they denied the claim.
My question is what caused the cylinder wear? Is this common without ring or piston problems? I don't know if they pulled the pistons. Will find out tomorrow and report back. Any experience out there with this kind of thing?
