Subject: JD 7720 Repair ?

Graymont Illinois

I replaced the concave and cylinder bars. Noticed the right side was drooping maybe a 1/4 or 1/2 inch lower than left side. I believe the area around the adjustment screw for the concave has wore the hole . The plate is  tack'  welded to combine. This plate has the screw and worm gear brackets  and the square bar comes thru. Deere makes a replacement plate. I was told to drill out tack welds.

Thats where I am at. Tried drilling out what I think are tack welds. My center punch starts were not very centered. How big do you drill holes? I would guess tack welds are about 5/16th but missed centers. Drilled what I thought were tack welds but plate seems pretty solid.

Quit a little early as friends came over. Now my solar shop lights are out:>)

Looks like I need another trip back to JD shop for advice. Unless, you people here, who actually were born with a "mechanic gene" can help out.

Proabably not good to quit with what I think has the spotwelds drilled. but cannot get plate loose. Maybe I missed some or need to drill bigger holes?

Thanks Brian, w/o the "mech gene"
