But you know, I wonder if maybe the big money behind the big business that drives this whole auto production thing really would rather burn the oil just as fast as possible. Small diesel powered vehicles are being sold all over the world by I believe most of the majors that play in our country, we just don't get to participate.

This hybrid thing would die a very fast death if it had to compete with equally small diesel powered vehicles of the same weight. My old 1980 Rabbit diesel stick shift never did get less than 50mpg in its long and hard life. No air, or power steering, but I never once cared either.

If a diesel was offerered in a 1/2 ton p.u. nobody could sell half of all the 3/4 tonners that are driving around now with no load attached at all.
