Carter Montana
Streamlight makes a line designed for Fire Departments. We use the Lightbox, a rechargeable light with a pivoting head. Bright bulb, long run time, well designed charge mount, but fairly heavy to carry. Maybe overkill in a farm application but worth a look.

They also make a 2-AA model that uses eight LED's in a circle that lasts from 6-8 times longer than regular lights. It's a nifty little light we mount on our helmets. Puts out a cool blue light that takes some getting used to. Not quite as bright as the traditional bulb but the trade off in run time is well worth it. Both have heavy poly cases.

It's a premium line but I think we've gotten what we've paid for.

The other posters Mag-lites (3-D) have also been a nice addition to the department. They seem to hold up pretty good. D-cells are expensive though
