I am south of Mitchell, South Dakota, we farm from Wagner to Oldham and this year it is tough again except for the beans and the ground by Oldham is looking very good. We had planted Pioneer and Garst last year and neither one was that good. Now this year the Garst and Pioneer are shot, the Dekalb and Mustang are gonna be in the 60-80 bushel range down here. Up by Oldham the corn yield estimator showed the Dekalb at 173, Mustang at 168 and the Wensman at 166. This is our first year with Dekalb, Mustang and Wensman so I do not know about the drydown. I do know that there will be no more Pioneer or Garst corn planted next year on any of our ground. We have planted Garst for 4 years and Pioneer for 15 years so I am not new to them. Also the Garst beans have been good but you can't give me a bushel of free Pioneer beans, they are horrible.
