Subject: RE: Best Planter For Corn?

I consistently get above local average yields using my JD 7200 vac. (Although, I attribute that to good tillage, tile, and abundant pig manure for fertilizer). The planter works just fine in my conditions. It has good intra row spacing and stand counts are very close to what it is supposed to be planting.

However, when the 7200 is worn out, it's going to be replaced with a 1200 CIH. The vac meter seems to be performing well, and I miss the CIH row unit.

I have seen some less than impressive stands with the new CCS JD planters. The plant spacing is poor and varible. I'm not sure if that's due to the pro-shaft or something else, but I would consider it unacceptable for my fields.
