Thud - why not just add 6 more units to plant your maie rows? 2 females @30",,, then a single mail on 15" ,, 2 females etc across the planter.

It can be done that way.  Whisnand Hybrids does it that way. The problem I see is getting rid of the male.  It is enough of a trick knocking male in 30" rows.  Cutting my margin of error in half would take all the fun out of it. I don't think my old equipment is accurate enough to stay on row in 15" spacing on the male.

Since I know someone will ask, male knocking is the destruction of the male corn so it does not contaminate the seed producing female.  I'll attach a few photos to help illustrate.

Oh, and here is the way I'd LIKE to do it, Modern Flow's male row forage harvester
