Subject: RE: Moving/taking down grain bins

Lac qui Parle County Minnesota
If your somewhat capable, I would just move them yourself. We have moved everything from 16'-24' with no problems.
If there are no power lines then just jack them up, slide a donahue type trailer underneath, strap down and move.
Worse case, lift up, slide trailer underneath, take off bottom ring horizontal bolts and one set of verticle bolts on a seam. Slide the ends together and set the rest of the bin over the top.
Moving bins is not hard. Never move them on a windy day and it doesn't hurt to tie some conduit pipe over the top just in case there is a low wire. Always stake your jacks. Use new bolts. Most importantly, TAKE YOUR TIME. We have moved a couple of bins, 16 miles with no problem. You can't be in a hurry.
