Different metals require different angles on the cutting edge. I drill mostly mild steel, which needs a 59 degree angle on the bit. El-Cheapo me, I use two hex nuts held together between thumb and fore finger, which will give us a 60 degree angle between the two nuts. Close enough for me to get the bit sharpened to the correct angle.
