Wider chain is better.....30" is a minimum to handle anything and 36" is a lot better. Steeper slopes are better. Chandler makes two different models. Yours looks like it may not be quite as steep as the less steep of their two offerings. Your chain appears to have slats on every-other link. Wider spacing is more aggressive and will feed litter better. Loading technique is a matter of avoiding any compaction. We first loaded with a tractor loader and had to push the pile toward the other side of the bed to place the last scoop on each spot. This created compaction on the other side of the bed and sometimes caused bridging. Using a loader with enough reach to load it properly eliminates this cause of problems. | |
