| I bought a 1981 IH 1440 combine last winter and this will be my first time using it. I have the header off right now and have noticed that it wants to lift up the feeder house on it's own. Is this common, will the header weight stop this? I hope. Does this have anything to do with the auto header? It's currently switched off. Also, on the left side of the feeder house, the belt that drives the hydraulic pump under the steps seems to loosen up when the feeder is lifted up. I have adjusted the idler spring as tight as I can get it, but it could stand to be tighter. Just a few things I've noticed so far on a combine I'm pretty unfamiliar with. Any advice is welcome. Thanks. | |
