I will have to agree with everyone else, verticals are the best when mixing a lot of feed each day. After using a Knight reel auggie, then a Knight 5042 vertical mixer, we now have a Penta 6710 vertical mixer which we really like. We started out with a Knight reel mixer because we couldn't afford a vetical at the time. The wear points that I can think of are the augers and reel(bent, thickness of flighting), floor(thickness, holes) and the chains, bearings and such. They are worth the money if you can gain milk production and cow health compared to not feeding a TMR. We had decent service from our Knight dealer, but the reason we went with a Penta was for better service from a different dealer since it is used 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year, you need a dependable dealer.
