cut them in two so you never are tempted to put them back. I took mine out finally after a couple of tough bean days, and field speed could increase from 2.7 against the governor, to a little over 4 with some motor left. This was in real tough very green beans, in dry ones it might not matter much.
Corn seemed to shell off just fine too.
